High, high hopes expecting to bite into the best Pulled Pork I've ever had. Entering Lou Dawg's with a basement-esque feel with country music blasting, this scene was already not my kind of jam. Free Wi-Fi here, so that got a few things a tad more exciting.

1. Meat Combos - 1 Meat + 2 Sides ($11.95)

Pulled Pork w/Deep Fried Pickles & Sweet Potato Fries

This was certainly underwhelming, such small portions. I would have been much better off trying a sandwich, but, damn my no-burger/sandwich misfortune. The Pulled Pork was of such a small portion, and wasn't great at all - I expected more from the sauces, very little flavour. The Deep Fried Pickles weren't fantastic either, the thin, fine breading was an irritating combination as well.

Unexpectedly absolutely stuffed from our free cookies and hot chocolate in Santa's Cabin, our half Pretzels generously dipped in mustard seeds at Steam Whistle Brewing before that and our small bites at The Fifth's Pubhouse before that, we were finished. We didn't know how we were going to make it to our last meal, rethinking our options, which we didn't have much of, we sucked it up and rolled across the street to chill and wait the arrival of our third mate.

It was a 10 minute wait before we were seated into a booth, which was pretty surprising considering that the pub was of three levels. Once we were seated and looking around, oh, we're at one of these places again. Servers prancing around in all black, low tops and short skirts. The place was also noticeably loud.

I absolutely loved how their menus came on a newspaper to open up, with facts along the way. The restaurant offered the usual pub I was absolutely down for the 5-in-a-row beer samplers, but was much to full to even drink. A half hour in, and my mood still did not change. We settled with sharing a few appetizers instead. Next time, I will have you, glorious beer, and I will enjoy you.

The Fifth Pub House, Entertainment District

The Fifth is stacked with all sorts. Literally throughout the five floors, there is The Fifth Pub House, The Fifth Grill & Terrance, The Fifth Social Club, Cabin Five and The Fifth Cafe. The Fifth Social Club was actually the first club I hit up, being of drinking-age legal in Toronto. It was interesting, on one of my gigs for The Fifth, being given a brief tour throughout the whole building and seeing how all of it's venues connected. Of their newest addition, was The Fifth Pub House.

What intrigued me the most was how a 'pub' fit in with the whole scene that The Fifth was pulling off - from my sister and her boyfriend's descriptions of the Social Club, before I experienced it for myself, and at the time when it was named 'Easy & The Fifth' in their age (lol), from their stories, I took it as a fancier place than most other clubs Downtown, as a crawling-from-the-Financial-District-thank-god-its-Friday-still-in-my-business-attire after-work club for 25-30 year olds. So, from this thought still in my mind, and a Yelp review on this place staring me straight in the face, I had to scope it out for myself.

Close to the Christmas Holidays, two of my mates had plans to escape (my wraith) Toronto to spend time with their loved ones. So, of course, a memorable Eating-Day was to be planned for my dear food-fanatic mate and I.

So, our game plan of today:

First stop, at The Fifth Pub, then to Steamwhistle Brewery, observe the twinkly lights towards Yonge and Dundas, and lastly, the last super with our French Mami at The Three Brewers.

After work, and specifically feeling like a pitcher of Sangria along with a few bites from The Drake, we made one streetcar ride down to Queen West. We walked through the patio entrance, and as usual, waited a while before we were seated on the not too packed patio. Seating ourselves in the only shabby looking green booth and after a few sips of our water while gazing through the menu, we would try to grab the server's attention, only to be disappointed after being told that they have been dry of Sangria for the last three days. What...

So, off we paraded East of The Drake on Queen Street West while picking up free Wi-Fi signals along the way, looking for another place nearby for a good ol' pitcher of Sangria. Then it came to me, Bellwoods Brewery! I would pass this place every time during the early Summer to catch the 501 Dundas bus to my early morning classes, and on the way home, I would often admire the carefree ambience of the guests, sitting on the Patio, chattering away and sipping away at their beers. I was never a beer-drinker before Canada, it has certainly grown on to me. What intrigues me the most is that Bellwoods Brewery actually brews their own beer, ready to serve. They also have a retail store on side selling these beers in four packs ready to carry home. I knew that this would be the perfect place for a drink!

Pub Food - 45~55c Wings

Located in a far off strip of shops in Mississauga

Chicken wings are my favourite thing ever. I miss the late night BBQs and the ridiculous amount of chicken wings drenched in it's glorious overnight marinade ready for me to chuck on the barbie for me to feast on. Those days, long gone, so I am to satisfy my chicken wing cravings elsewhere, here was Coopers Pub...

Upon entry, we are greeted by these few month old candies and nuts.

Seated for eight in a spacious pub at 10PM, we were led to our booth by a grumpy waitress

They had nice comfy couches for customers to come, chill and watch TV.

Now, there were a vast range of types of chicken wing flavours you could order... 25 of them! We came here believing that the chicken wings were at 10c/ea, but the waitress was quick to give an annoyed look and told us to tell her once we find a place that does that. But she did end up telling us of the 45c/wing special. It is pretty odd how this special isn't posted anywhere on their menu.

You could also order 1 Lb of wings for $9.99, 2 Lb for 18.99 or 3 Lb for 27.99, all served with carrots, celery and ranch or blue cheese. After 4PM until closing at Coopers Pub, you can get the wings for 45c/ea for House Sauced ones and 55c/ea for Premium Sauced ones - having to order in lots of tens for each flavour!
